Miscellaneous
This year, FMICS is held in Paris,
at LIAFA laboratory,
just before CAV'2001.
Workshop site
Paris, the capital of
France, is a city of over two millions people covering 460 square miles of
northern France. It is on the River Seine at the center of the
Ile-de-France, the region that is home to ten millions people, around
one-fifth of the French population. An important European cultural and
business center, it is the focus of activity in the north of France.
LIAFA is a young laboratory, which has the ambition to become one of the major international centers in algorithmics, their foundations and their applications. The goal of the laboratory is to develop strong theoretical research as well as to study real applications in collaboration with industrial partners, mainly in the domain of Telecommunication. The laboratory collaborates currently with industrial partners like Bouygues Telecom and Nortel Matra Cellular.
LIAFA is located in the south east of Paris, between the François Mitterand library and the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital, at 20 mn of walk and 15 mn of underground from the so-called "Quartier Latin" (where are located CAV'01 and SAS'01). The Chinese town is at 10 mn of walk.
Transportation
The exact address of LIAFA is 175 rue du Chevaleret, at the corner of rue Clisson. It's a 9-floors building covered with brown tilings (see photo).
The site is easily reached by:
- Subway line 6, station Chevaleret. You take the exit on the left, and then cross the boulevard (Vincent Auriol) to take rue du Chevaleret, perpendicular to the subway line. The building is at the end of the block on the right.
- Subway line 14 or RER line C, station is Bibliothèque François Mitterrand, where you take rue du Chevaleret by passing under a bridge (5 mn of walk).
- Bus 27 stops not far, at the corner of rue Jeanne d'Arc and rue Clisson.
